The language blog is an initiative started by the science communication project of the Collaborative Research Centre 1646 "Linguistic Creativity in Communication". The editorial team curates and publishes articles written by the members of the research centre as well as other researchers at Bielefeld University and collaborating linguists.
The language blog aims to be a venue for open science communication. Our goal is to provide highly accessible and interesting linguistic content that is relevant to everyday life, highlighting the different disciplines and aspects of linguistics in an open format aimed towards an audience without a linguistic background. Research topics of the CRC 1646 are the main focus of the blog, but it also covers a variety of linguistic topics from different fields, as well as foundational aspects of the science of language. We also use the blog to report on findings from our citizen science language projects.
The language blog is inherently multilingual. We aim to publish all blog posts in both English and German to reach a broader audience.
Review
All posts submitted to the language blog undergo an anonymous review by the editorial team and its advisory board, which assesses structure, comprehensibility, style and scientific quality. In addition to our website, we publish all posts to Bielefeld University's public repository PUB as a citable PDF document.
Unless otherwise specified, all content in the language blog is licensed under the Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.
